The City of Dallas and its Suburbs are some of the Fastest Growing Areas in the United States.

Dallas is a city located in North Texas with an urban-suburban mix feel. Some of the fastest-growing areas in the Nation are in Dallas and its nearby suburbs. The Dallas - Ft. Worth Metroplex is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the country with an estimated population of 7.5 million. Also, the City of Dallas is the largest inland area or hub in the Nation (without a navigational link to the sea).

Contemporary Dallas is known for its high concentration of restaurants, shopping centers, sports, skyscrapers like Reunion Tower with ball that lights up at night along with the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge - that together create a striking skyline.

    1. The Dallas Cowboys - which many call “America's Team”. Forbes Magazine recently ranked the Dallas Cowboys football team as the most valuable franchise in sports. The Dallas Cowboys now play at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, a suburb of Dallas, Texas.
    2. The TV show Dallas - a primetime television drama in the ’70s and 80’s with its white colonial mansion large ranches and oil.
    3. Dallas-Ft Worth International Airport - at 27 Square miles, DFW Airport is enormous and it’s ranked with the busiest airports in the world. Love Field Airport - is an inner-city Dallas airport with a close-in location.
    4. Big Tex and the State Fair of Texas - the State Fair of Texas comes to the Fair Park area in Dallas yearly. Big Tex is the official “mascot” of the Texas Fair - which is known for its huge size and record number of attendees.
    5. The Assassination of JFK - is an important marker in the history of Dallas - and the United States. On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. A few Dallas area museums recognize and remember this tragic day including - the Sixth Floor Museum, and the JFK Memorial site.
    6. George W. Bush Presidential Center with Library and Museum - is located in Dallas, and houses the National Archives and documents from the Presidency of George W. Bush's, along with the “a Nation Under Attack” exhibit with information on 911, a replica of the Presidential Situation Room and the Oval Office.

Dallas is also popular for several other famous sites and landmarks including - Southern Methodist University (SMU), UT Southwestern Medical Center (home to several Nobel Prizes), American Airlines Center, the renown Dallas Country Club, and newer Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

At Gilley’s, you can ride a mechanical bull, see a concert, drink a beer, and take in all the sites of Dallas’ nightlife.

Dallas - Green Spaces Galore

Dallas has a plethora of green spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy. There are several well-known natural spaces and parks like - Turtle Creek, which is one of Dallas’ oldest waterways. The creek provides a recreational area for residents to picnic, see swans, ducks and other wildlife. Also, there's Turtle Creek Park in the Uptown neighborhood of Dallas. Turtle Creek Park (formerly known as Lee Park) is Dallas’ oldest park and has blooming azaleas and dogwood trees at Easter - plus it's also a popular wedding venue. If you enjoy walking your dog, riding a bike or exercising, the Katy Trail could be the right place for you. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden that's near Whiterock Lake has yearly plantings, special exhibits during the holidays and throughout the year. Klyde - Warren Park near downtown Dallas has options like - a dog park, concert space for music, outdoor exercise classes, lots of green space with benches and dancing fountains - and food trucks for outdoor dining.

Dallas - A Sports City

Do you enjoy sports? The City of Dallas and it's suburbs are home to 6 major league sports teams including - the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, FC Dallas and Dallas Wings. Also, SMU and TCU have large sports programs featuring football with the SMU Mustangs and TCU Horned Frogs. Also, there are several minor league teams that call Dallas or it's suburbs home. The Rough Riders are well known with their throw-back ballpark in Frisco, Texas about 20 miles north of downtown Dallas.


Dallas and its suburbs have approx 18 golf courses - or if you’d rather see the pro’s play, catch the Byron Nelson Golf Annual Tournament in McKinney, a suburb of Dallas. If you're a follower of motorcar racing, visit the Texas Motor Speedway which is located nearby in the city of Ft. Worth.

Dallas - Education in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD)

The Dallas Independent School District is large and employs over 20,000 staff members and teachers to serve a diverse population of 153,000 students in 230 schools. Overall, the public schools in the DISD rank above average. The DISD has invested 2 billion dollars in modernizing their schools and academic programs since 2015, plus giving families more educational choices.

The Dallas ISD is one of the Nation's fastest improving school districts. The district has shown consistent increases in annual graduation rates along with the numbers of students taking and passing advanced placement exams.


US NEWS & WORLD REPORT in their 2020 issue gave two DISD schools honors for being in the “top 20 public high schools” in the Nation. They are the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center’s School for the Talented and Gifted and the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School.

The History of the Dallas - Ft Worth Metroplex

Dallas and it’s neighboring city Ft. Worth were initially developed due to the construction of major railroad lines - allowing access to cotton, cattle, and oil. Also, the construction of the interstate highway system reinforced Dallas’ prominence as a transportation hub. Dallas developed into a strong industrial and financial center along with being a major inland port for transportation (railroads and highways).  


In 1974, the City of Dallas helped build the Dallas - Ft Worth International Airport - which is now one of the busiest airports in the world. This solidified the Dallas - Ft Worth Metroplex as an important area in the United States

Dallas has a diverse economy with dominate sectors in - information technology, financial services, the oil industry, telecommunications, and the retail industry. The Dallas area is home to several Fortune 500 Companies such as - Exxon Mobil (Irving), American Airlines (Ft Worth), JC Penny’s (Plano), and Toyota - of North America (Plano).
